OKEHAMPTON Hamlets Parish Council has voted to contribute £1,000 towards keeping the public toilets at Fairplace in Okehampton open this year.

Okehampton Town Council took over the town centre toilets at Fairplace from the borough council at the start of April. It is costing them around £18,000 to keep the loos open each year.

The hamlets council voted to approve the grant, with one councillor opposing, at their recent meeting. The council also agreed to make a grant of £500 to Torridge North Mid and West Devon Citizens Advice.
