THE Tavonians' latest production, Season's Greetings by Alan Ayckbourn, performed at the Wharf recently, chronicles a family Christmas of increasing disaster. The play, directed by Barbara Howland and assisted by Stuart Waterworth, moved at a lively pace. The strong, diverse cast varied from the reactionary Harvey, played with great style by Frank Woodcock, to the bumbling and incompetent Bernard (David Simkins), whose puppet scene in particular was a delight. Andrew Kelly as Neville and Chris Northey (Eddie) gave an excellent performance of getting increasingly drunk, with Stephanie Reese and Pattie Masters in fine form as their long-suffering wives. Susan Bagg and Neil Williams gave nicely controlled performances as the supposed lovers who are so far apart, while Mandy Dadds, as the almost permanently drunken Phyllis, was in fine form. This was an enjoyable, well constructed performance, and showed the Tavonians once again in control. Felicity Barnaby
