BBC RADIO 1’s Big Weekend, an annual festival that tours the country bringing the best new and current music to a new city each year, has kicked off in Exeter in the grounds of Powderham Castle.

The event will see 50,000 music lovers visit the venue over the course of the weekend to see the likes of Coldplay, Ellie Goulding and more perform live on three stages.

Despite predictions of unsettled weather, the arena is bathed in glorious sunshine and the music kicks off at noon with a performance on the main stage by American pop star Nick Jonas.
