AFTER seven years in the Duchy League, Chillaton finally succeeded in winning some silver when they were crowned champions of division two at Fowey last week.
In a season badly disrupted by wet pitches and the foot and mouth outbreak, Chillaton managed to complete their fixtures, thanks mainly to the generosity of Lewdown FC and St Dominick FC, who let Chillaton have the use of their grounds and facilities.
In a final hectic 31 days the Yellows played 12 games, winning eight, drawing one and losing three, scoring 31 goals with 18 against.
Much of the credit must go to player-manager John O'Hare, who has blended a mixture of youth and experience into a workmanlike unit, and if he can keep the team together, they should do very well in the higher division.
Chillaton will celebrate their successful season at their presentation night at the Ordulph Arms, Tavistock, on Friday, June 8 at 8pm.
