STANNARY Brass Band have issued a massive thank you to the people of Tavistock for their generosity and support throughout 2013.

Money raised from performances and collections in the town will help the band, a registered charity, to continue to fund training expenses for young people as well as buying and maintaining instruments and equipment.

During the Christmas period the band collected £63.50 from Dickensian Evening; £160.81 from Tavistock pubs; £86.21 on Bedford Square on December 7; £222.89 from Morrisons on December 7; £102.33 on Bedford Square on December 21; and carols at Morrisons raised £234.94.

The Christmas Concert in St Eustachius' Church with Stannary Brass Band and Callington Community Gospel Choir was also a huge success.

The Rev Michael Brierley not only acted as compere but also played his trombone with the band and sang with the choir.

A donation from the proceeds will soon be made to the Mary Budding Trust.
