YELVERTON Bowling Club has raised £350 for two charities with a charity competition.

The club will donate the money to St Luke’s Hospice and Guide Dogs for the Blind after raising the money through members paying for lunch provided by a company.

Ron Collier, club green manager, said: ‘We were blessed to have such wonderful sunny weather on the day. The day started with lunch in our lovely refurbished club house, followed by both ladies ;and men’s bowls competitions.’

‘The charities were chosen by members with St Luke’s a regular charity of ours. Guide Dogs for the Blind was chosen because one of our members, who is partially sighted, has received a guide dog and we can see the big difference it has made to her life.

The men’s winner was Paul Cottell. The joint winning ladies, pictured, were Maria Golden and Jackie Hunt.
