AFTER days of rain the sun came out for Tavistock Golf Club’s mens four ball better ball open — the first of the season.
Forty two pairs took part and the scoring was close but topping the leader board was Michael Halford (Yelverton) and James Cordon (St Mellion) with 48 points. Yelverton’s C O’Sullivan and Matthew Bodily were second with 44 pts on count back from Martyn Wooltorton (Perranporth) and Max Lowles (Staddon Heights). J Stroud and Richard Mansfield (China Fleet) were fourth with 42 pts on count back from Bob Pulley and Paul Seager (Stover). The following seven pairs all scored 41 pts.
Scoring was also close in the men’s monthly medal. Rob Lovell was first with a nett 71; second Cameron Kenworthy nett 72 on count back from Graham Horton. Jon Behennah was fourth with nett 74 – the following four players all scored 75 nett.
There was blue skies and sunshine for the ladies’ medal but the course, after days of heavy rain, was not competition playable and was postponed.
