Bere Alston will be donning Victorian costumes to take part in the village’s annual festive celebration.
Bere Alston Victorian Evening takes place in the village centre on Saturday, December 7 from 5pm to 8pm.
This is truly a chance to get into the spirit of Christmas, with a nod to the heyday of mining on the Bere peninsula.
There will be hot chestnuts roasting, steam engines steaming and live music, dancing and carol singing. Not to mention a barrel organ.
Performers include Tavistock’s Stannary Brass Band, the village choir, the young singers from Bere Alston Primary Academy and morris dancers.
Tractors decorated with festive lights will make their progress through the streets, while in Bere Alston Village Hall, there will be no fewer than 22 craft stalls giving Christmas inspiration.
The evening offers a great opportunity for anyone who enjoys dressing up to don Victorian frocks and frock coats and top hats.
The Robey Trust will be bringing along its steam engines while there will also be a children’s colouring competition. Find out more at the Co-op and No 12.
There will also be a carnival committee food stall selling burgers, with all proceeds going back into the community. Youngsters can also go along to Santa’s Grotto at John Brown’s store.
