THE Tavistock Golf Club Juniors have achieved two excellent results in the club knockout competitions.
In the final of the Winter Foursomes Jamie Ninnis and Callum Watkin beat Rob Score and Nick Turner 5 and 4 and, in the final of the Hampshire Cup, Tom White won the trophy beating Andy Down 4 and 3.
The West Devon Adult Junior Foursomes at Dartmouth was played in horrendous weather conditions.
The competition was won by the home team but Tavistock took an excellent second place with 59 points, the combined scores of the two teams — Alan Gawman and Jamie Ninnis 33pts; Callum Watkin and Dan Harris 26pts.
This was a great start to the club’s juniors’ season.
In the men’s three ball team event scoring was close but the winners were Andy Down, Viv Wilton and John McGahey with a nett 130. Second, with a nett 131, were Christopher Howard, Adrian Bleasdale and A Howard and, in third place, Jerry Bawden, Jonathan Coe and Harry Hopcroft, nett 132.
In the ladies Rickard Bowl Kayleigh Cann topped division one with an excellent nett 68 to take the trophy. Second in division one was Bridget Luckham on net 73 and third with nett 75 Fran Horton.
