FOR once there was no wind or rain when Tavistock Golf Club ladies played their annual Poultry Stableford.
Scoring was close in the first division but Belinda McSherry took the honours with 36 points, second Nicky Gawman 35pts on count back from Lynn Swift. Margaret Smith was first in division two with 35pts, second June Kendall 32pts, third Marion Stenhouse 29pts on count back from Ginny Samborne. First in division three, and winner of the Father Christmas Trophy, was Nicola Ormond with an excellent 38pts; second with 30pts Susannah Hart on count back from Brenda Carter.
In the men’s Poultry Stableford Adrian Bunsell was first with 40pts, second Rob Milligan 38pts, third Keith Maskell 34pts on count back from David Gribble. In the men’s medal Lee Bartlett was first with a nett 71, second Mark Taylor nett 72, third Dan Harries nett 74 on count back from Rob Jarman.
In the second round of the Winter League Pete Floyd and Jon Behennah were first in division A with 40pts, second Alan Gawman and Jack Philpotts 39pts.
In division B first Tom Dodd and Shaun Getson 43pts, second George Gawman and Max Clarke 39pts. Rob Staniland and Andy Down with 47pts was first in division C, second Gary Pumford and Keith Stenhouse 39pts. In division D first Patrick McMahon and Jason Allen 36pts, second George Thompson and Barry Shipton 35pts. The next winter league event is a Texas scramble on Saturday, December 21.
At the annual men veterans’ annual meeting newly elected captain John Harding presented his plans for the year but, unfortunately, the new captain’s drive in was postponed due to the weather!
