YELVERTON Golf Club Junior Turkey Trot was ravaged by winds, driving rain and winter temperatures but that did not put off the hardy junior players and their non-golfing partners for some Christmas fun.
The nine-hole short course at Yelverton was the venue for this year’s Turkey Trot which challenged the short game skills of both golfers and their partners.
Each pairing was made up of a junior golfer and a non-golfer which could be mum, dad, sibling or friend, their role being to perform the putting duties. Surviving the squalls the teams finished their competition and then took refuge in the club house to participate in a golfing quiz and bingo games while score cards were checked for the short course winners.
Taking first place was the perfect combination of mum and son Helen Cunningham and Oliver; second place were Yelverton junior member and welcome guests from Exeter GC Jago Curnow-Bayley and mum Kirsty.
