MORE than 140 men at Tavistock Golf Club competed in their Turkey Trot competition, which was spread over two days in wet and windy weather.
On day one the winners in division one were Jim Whitbread with a net 72; second David Axell net 73 and third was Brian Wright with net 76.
Ajay Patel won division two with a net 76 on count back from Steve Andrew and Keith Stenhouse. Tommy Rawlinson was winner of division three with a net 72; second was Lee Bartlett with net 75 on count back from Matthew Whitley.
On day two Sam Hurdwell won division one with net 68 on count back from Dave Symons; third was Steve Gilbert with net 71.
The men’s Bottle Trot was also over two days and on day one Gene Thompson won division one with 39 points on count back from Alan Gawman, third was Shaun Kiely with 38 pts.
Tommy Rawlinson with 38pts was the winner in division two; second was Harry Hopcroft with 37pts on count back from Mike Watkin.
With 40pts John McGahey was the overall winner in division three; second Simon Hunt with 37pts on count back from Steve Fowler.
The next day first in division one was Rob Jarman with 36pts; second Martin Channon on 32pts and third, Adam Bridgewater with 31pts.
Topping division two was David Parlby with 36pts; second Rick Read on 34pts and third was Paul Congo 33pts. With 39pts Richard Burrows was winner in division three; second was Jas Singh on 34pts; third Ian Davies with 31pts.
Due to the weather conditions the ladies played both the Bottle Trot (a team event) and the Poultry Stableford over 12 holes.
In the Poultry Stableford first in division one was Donna Gage with 26pts; second Maggie Hillman on 23pts and third was Hilary Picton on 22pts.
Sybil Cole had an excellent 30pts in division two, where the runner-up was Sarah Woock with 25pts and third, Hazel Cash on 23pts. Sue Pratley won division three with 34pts; second, Jean Thomas with 23 pts on count back from Sue Eastwood.
In the closely fought Bottle Trot the team of Fran Horton, Sarah Woock and Donna Gage were the winners with 57pts; runnersup were Nicky Gawman, Gilly Jarvis and Bev Ruth with 56pts. The winner of the Father Christmas Trophy was Sybil Cole.
